The Centre for Social Research (CSR) is pleased to welcome Dr. Yamikani Ndasauka as its new Head. A distinguished scholar and Associate Professor at the University of Malawi, Dr. Ndasauka brings to the Centre a wealth of experience in interdisciplinary research, leadership, and academic scholarship.
Dr. Ndasauka's work spans philosophy, applied ethics, psychology, public health, and cultural studies, with a strong focus on African perspectives and development challenges. His research has addressed critical issues such as mental health, public health communication, technology and society, academic freedom, and social responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also the author and editor of several scholarly books and publications, including Technology, the African Mind and Culture: Philosophical Perspectives and Academic Freedom in Africa.
As he assumes leadership of CSR, Dr. Ndasauka joins an institution with a longstanding mandate to generate evidence for policy and development, promote interdisciplinary research, and strengthen engagement with communities, government, and development partners. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment as the Centre advances a renewed research agenda focused on addressing complex societal challenges through innovative and collaborative approaches.
