CSR COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY


Today the Centre for Social Research joins the rest of the World in commemorating the International Children's Day with a call to various stakeholders to step up actions aimed at protecting and promoting the welfare of the child.
 
Although the government of Malawi ratified the African Charter on the Rights and the Welfare of the Child results of a recent survey commissioned by the Afrobarometer shows that the situation remains grim for the Malawian child where 41% of the children in the country are somewhat or very frequently abused or neglected.
 
The survey results further show that 42 percent of adults surveyed reported that they somewhat or frequently used physical discipline on children. Now is the time for heightened action to reverse the tide against child abuse and neglect as reported in the poster below.
