Afrobarometer Network renews trust in Centre for Social Research, UNIMA.
The Centre for Social Research (CSR)of the University of Malawi is delighted to be awarded again the National partnership role for the Afrobarometer surveys in Malawi. The Afrobarometer Network invited bids from different research institutions to bid for the national partner role which involves conducting Afrobarometer surveys in Malawi.
In a communication received this week, Chief Executive Officer for Afrobarometer Dr. Joseph Asunka said CSR came tops following a rigorous competitive assessment and selection process.

“I am writing to officially appoint CSR as Afrobarometer National Partner (NP) for Malawi for three Rounds of surveys, starting with Round 10 surveys. The position of national partner will persist during this period subject to continuing satisfactory performance and availability of funding,” said Dr. Asunka in his official communication to CSR.
The reappointment means that CSR will continue being the National Partner and the face of all Afrobarometer surveys and activities in Malawi for the next three rounds of Afrobarometer surveys (Rounds 10, 11 and 12). This is a high recognition of quality work and capacity that CSR holds in its research work.

In her remarks, Acting Director for CSR Associate Professor Chrissie Thakwalakwa was over the moon.
“Wow, this is very great news! Thanks, colleagues, for your dedication and professionalism in the previous work that has led to the trust and great offer,” said Associate Professor Thakwalakwa upon hearing the news.
CSR has been a national partner for Afrobarometer in Malawi since 1999, and has contributed a lot to the growth of the network but also highly benefitted from the Afrobarometer’s capacity building efforts.
